Book "Oracle Application Express 4.0 with Ext JS" released

I'm very pleased to announce my book "Oracle Application Express 4.0 with Ext JS" has just been released as a RAW book by Packt Publishing.

RAW simply means the book is still being written, with 8 of 11 chapters completed so far. You're getting access to new chapters as they are being completed, in an unedited format.

A RAW book is an ebook, and this one is priced at 40% of the usual eBook price. Once you purchase the RAW book, you can immediately download the content of the book so far, and when new chapters become available, you will be notified, and  can download the new version of the book. When the book is published, you will receive the full, finished eBook.

For details on the book visit the Packt website.

If you're not familiar with Ext JS, take a look at the Sencha website.

APEX combined with Ext JS allows you to create visually impressive web applications easily. Integrating the Ext interface into a APEX theme and powerful widgets as APEX Plug-ins allows you to give your users a much richer Web 2.0 desktop experience.

Writing the book has been an opportunity to revisit every aspect of integrating the two technologies, with the benefit of over 3 years experience combining the two.

My knowledge has deepened along the way, and I'm happy to be able to share what I've learnt with you.

Hi Mark

Congrats on making the eBook publishing milestone. I'll be signing up for a copy.

P.S. I like the cover picture, much better than standard cover you usally see.

Cheers
Matt

Hello Mark,

I like the book, it is very easy to read and understand. It does not repeat the oracle documentation but rather describes the gap between the two technologies and shows how to make them work together.

I have purchased a raw copy, however on the publisher website there is no source code available. It's not easy to follow the book without the source code..

So I asked them, but they have answered me, that the code is available only after publishing the book. I don't understand why is it a secret especially when they selling the book; without the code it is incomplete.

Would it be somehow possible to get the source code? I would appreciate it very much if you could send it to me.

many thanks in advance.
Frantisek.

HI Frantisek

Glad you're enjoying the book.
I'd really like to make the source available, but have to abide by the Publishers wishes on this.

I'm working on the last couple of chapters right now before going onto the editorial process.
This will also be a chance to clean up the examples and theme included with the book.

Everything really comes together in the last few chapters, so please be patient, it will be well worth it.

Regards

Mark
